AU where maettael have known each other since they were children and are inseparable, tael has also secretly developed a crush on maet but doesn't dare to act on it since he's afraid of ruining their friendship
anyway they find out maet is a sentinel so maet starts working for the government and trains but they struggle to find a fitting guide for him since nobody seems to match him enough to fully restore him after battling
all this time this means that maet is never really fully rested but he still makes time to always come back to tael and confide in him, somehow the only time maet truly feels at peace is when he's cuddled up with tael - like just a little nap with him makes him feel more rested than any guide ever could, though he doesn't question why that could be
so anyhow when maettael are out on a grocery run some monster/enemy or whatever turns up and maet steps up to fight but is badly wounded in this process, tael doesn't know what to do so he can just stand by after calling 911 and hold maet begging him not to fall unconscious -though something weird happens 👀 while tael holds maet they notice that one of maet's worst wounds slowly starts to heal, which obviously wouldn't make sense... unless tael is...
so yeah they find out that tael is a guide and that this skill has just recently manifested itself in him and he seems to be the most compatible guide maet has ever had so the government recruits him immediately and the two will form a team.. now obviously tael wasn't prepared for this at all so he's having a super hard time dealing with all of this new information and there's of course also his secret crush on maet that he doesn't want to jeopardise but how exactly will he even manage once he learns what "real" guiding looks like

fawkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk this is good. this is excellenttttt. it's kind of superhero vibes right, being sentinels? i just kind of wish the trope in general wasn't so closely tied to government/military stuff (from what i've gathered from googling around a bit) but there's so many ways u can go and differentiate about that too!! thank fuck for free will. BUT GOD THIS IS SO GOOD. especially just like... the worldbuilding and story-shaping has so much potential. also just like... again the whole touch and then intimacy thing for tael too. like, how far is he allowed to go? how far is he Willing to go, for matthew? and since he has a crush on matt, how is he going to deal with his feelings now that he's decided to guide him??!! like it's a life or death situation sometimes for real but how much do their real feelings blend into that? like omfg he'll be going throuuuuuuuuuugh it. silently, and devastatingly so. and matt will wonder how to make things go back to normal while also fighting with his own feelings both about his calling and the one he loves(?!). AND ALSO JUST THE TENDERNESS OF IT ALL. learning each other's boundaries and how and when to touch omg. i think matt would be so adamant to not push tael into something he doesn't wanna do and that also creates conflict between like, wants vs Needs for both of them. especially if they don't communicate. but then, like........... thinking of matt trying to guide tael through their first time.... because they both want it but there's an edge of how much are u allowed to Take and also Enjoy it and have Feelings about it. though tbh i think that would only happen wayyy down the line (but that's just me and my limited knowledge). regardless there's just sooooooooooo much good potential ouaghhh.
truthfully i get u it would be so great omg. i'd Love to write something like this, it's So up my alley but i'm so far from writing regularly again i'm not even sure if i have what it takes to get started let alone do it justice. but anon you sound plenty locked in i absolutely believe u can do it if u wanna see this come to life... u very clearly have a vision if u ever decide to go for it i'll be cheering you on so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my dms and my inbox are open for u!!!!!
