while i do think some of them are more dog than cat and vice versa im still going to give each of them a cat breed and a dog breed bc fun.

for ichikas dog breed she is definetely a border collie (specifically blue merle) to me i saw oomf post about it once and thought Wow that’s so true. She is so border collie!!! afaik border collies are known for being very dedicated and loyal to both their humans and their job (herding) which i think fits her general character. they can also be pretty brave and impulsive and so can she! #twinning. out of all the working dogs she could be she gives herding dog the most idk.. maybe because she rounded up all of leoneed to be in a band together again lol. many herding dogs including BC’s also sometimes try to break up what they perceive to be fighting between humans or other animals, though sometimes they get it wrong and it’s not actually fighting which reminds me of how ichika tries to break up conflicts without fully understanding the situation. they are also prone to separation anxiety when away from their favourite people so do with that as you will… also i feel like the general appearance of a border collie fits her as well, it’s probably the shiny, soft looking fur and how their fur tufts remind of the flyaway strands in her hair.

and as for a cat breed she’d be a maine coon i think! Their fur is also very soft looking and tufty which is apparently part of my criteria now lol. For pelt colouration, she’d definitely be an inhibitor, but idk if she’d be solid/smoke or striped/silver… anyways as for temperament the maine coon is sometimes called a puppy cat since it behaves more like a dog than a cat sometimes which is part of why I chose this for ichika bc shes just so puppy that even when she is a cat she is still puppy.. since they can grow pretty big and their face shape is more reminiscent of larger cats than other breeds people sometimes find them intimidating but they’re actually very very sweet! Similar to how in-universe, ichika apparently looks stoic and aloof despite that being basically the opposite of her actual personality lol. Maine coons r loyal, gentle, curious, and highly perceptive to their humans emotions. which is very ichika methinks.

NOW saki time!! for a dog breed i think she would be a cocker spaniel. Their long wavy ears remind me of her pigtails, and as for colour, she would be lemon roan. personality-wise, they’re very outgoing, energetic, eager to please their loved ones, and love trying new things. buttt they hate being alone. Very saki.

For cat breed, she would be a ragdoll, with cream point fur. they have a lot of personality traits in common (affectionate, playful, devoted to those they love) and also the breeds namesake comes from their tendency to go limp (aka “ragdoll”) when held which is something i can kind of see Saki doing during a hug lol. they r also described as dog-like… leoneed is just too Dog Okay. Ragdolls also mature more slowly and retain a lot of juvenile traits into their adulthood (such as the previously mentioned reflex of going limp when picked up, usually still very curious and playful at ages where other breeds aren’t, and less independent than other breeds) which sort of reminds me of how Saki is often portrayed as lagging behind the rest of leoni..they also don’t do well w/ being alone which again. Very saki. also ragdolls and Maine coons (given that they have the average temperament of their breed) usually get on very well!

okay Now honami. She would be a collie!! Specifically a long-haired/rough collie bc i think she would be fluffy. She would be sable merle & white b/c sable colours reminds me of her hair, and merle dogs are more likely to have blue eyes and i can’t take away her Large
Blue Orbs. that would be so mean. Also collies are gentle, calm, responsible, and very in tune with the emotions of their humans. As herding dogs, they also need to keep order in their flock and help direct them where they need to be. Which makes me think of both her role in the band as leader and in their music as part of the rhythm team w shiho. they’re also very good with children and smaller animals since they’re calm and nurturing but also protective. she also sort of reminds me of lassie (the fictional collie in that old tv show) though to be fair i haven’t watched the whole series ive just seen clips. the concept of larping 1950s tv series lassie.

for a cat breed she’d be a birman. I kinda regret giving Maine coon to ichika since that suits honami as well but oh well. For pelt, she’d be lilac point. They also guaranteed to have blue eyes since their fur is partially white. Their vocalizations are very soft and quiet which is like her voice I Think. Temperament-wise they’re described as patient, loyal, and gentle and make good family pets as they are good around children and other animals. They are also sometimes described as dog-like sorry she’s also ouppy. They’re very empathetic and intelligent too, and love to try to “help” with tasks and watch over their owners :] ho nya mi mochizukitty I love you.

shiho!!!! I am excited to choose breeds for her!!!!!!! Okay for dogs she would be an Akita, silver brindle pelt. Akita dogs are usually independent, stoic, and wary of strangers but are super loyal and protective with those they form strong bonds. They are very strong-willed and stubborn, and are much less obedient than other dogs, preferring to act on their own instincts rather than according to the wishes of others. And it’s described as catlike, sort of funny considering all these cat breeds I’ve chosen so far are described as doglike. leoni problematic gap in kittyness. It’s also seen as a very traditional Japanese breed which I think fits Shiho since her family is more traditional.

for her cat breed, I think she would be a Russian blue. Appearance wise, they are quite literally ALWAYS grey-furred with green eyes sooo ya it matches well. personality wise they are more reserved and aloof, but loyal to their owners. they’re usually not very clingy, but will follow their owners around and enjoy being Near them rather than cuddling. They’re also pretty stubborn, particularly about routine which I think makes the breed fit shiho even more. Sorry I took so long to answer anon I only saw this recently!!
