The appalling deflection of blame and instead opting to shift responsibility to the minor is sickening.
To even so much as insinuate a 15-16 year old is ‘just as guilty’ as a 19 year old pursuing a romantic relationship is unbelievably tone deaf.
I was in a situation similar to this, where I was 15/16 dating a 19 year old.
People constantly warned me about the dangers and yet I never paid mind because I truly believed it was love and that the age/maturity gap was not that important.
I didn’t realise I was being groomed. I couldn’t bring myself to realise sexual conversations with a 19 year old at my young age was a bad thing.
