would you be able to explain how prompting/ self prompting/ prompt claims work like it’s my first day on earth?? because i’d love to participate but i’m new to fests and i’m in one of those ‘i don’t know what this is and at this point i’m to afraid to ask’ moments :D
you got it :)
prompting: for about a week, we will have a form available where you can submit prompts for ideas of fics you would like to see written! these prompts can be as vague or as detailed as you'd like. examples: "Jeongin and Felix, college AU, mutual pining oblivious friends to lovers" or "Jeongin is convinced his best friend Felix has a crush on their mutual friend. He decides to make it his life's mission to set the two of them up together, unaware of the fact that it's actually Jeongin who Felix has been smitten with for years." you will have an option to include candy points (things that you would love to see included) as well as hard nos (topics you would like the person claiming your prompt to avoid). you can submit as many prompts as you like during the prompting window, and all prompts will remain anonymous!
prompt viewing: a few days before the claiming period begins, all of the submitted prompts will be compiled in a spreadsheet for everyone to view. this will allow you to browse all of the submissions and decide which one(s) you are most excited to write!
claiming: once the claiming period opens, we will have a form that you can fill out to submit a claim--that is, to let us know which prompt you would like to write. prompts will be claimed on a first come, first served basis, so if you have your heart set on one, we recommend submitting the claiming form as soon as claiming opens! you will be able to select up to three prompts on the claiming form, so that in case someone else gets your first choice, we can still assign you your second or third choices. you will receive an email letting you know which prompt you have successfully claimed, and then it's time to get writing!
self-prompting: if you have a great idea for a jeongin-centric fic that you'd love to write yourself, you can fill out our self-prompting form, which will be available at the same time as claiming. this allows you to participate in the fest and submit your fic to the ao3 collection while still getting to write your own idea. once you've submitted your self-prompting form, you're free to get writing as well!
check-ins: about halfway through the writing period, we will send out check-in emails to all fest participants. if you need to change your prompt or drop out of the fest, you can communicate it to the mods then!
submissions & reveals: once your fic is complete, you'll be able to submit it to our ao3 collection. ao3 will keep those fics hidden until it's time to announce work reveals, at which point we'll reveal all the fics in the collection anonymously, to give readers time to enjoy all of the submissions without any ao3 pseuds attached. soon after that, we will announce author reveals, in which case all fics in the collection will be made un-anonymous.
i hope that all makes sense! feel free to send us any follow-up questions as they come up. we're new at this too, and we'd love for the fest to be accessible to everyone!
