so like. there's a huge gap between the background namgi that i wanted to write for this and the namgi that i actually wrote, but the tl;dr for both parties is that the weird liminal space between friendship and not-quite-dating looks very different for both of them.

for namjoon, he needs it to be defined as something. they've been in this space together for so long that he's starting to wonder if yoongi even actually likes him (he does) and sought out that affection in someone else. multiple someones, actually; jeonghan is not the first and probably won't be the last.

for jeonghan, it's still new enough that it feels fragile, but he's dealing with it by being spiteful. namjoon has made peace with not thinking of yoongi as his partner or someone that "belongs" to him, where jeonghan very clearly does not feel that way about seungcheol in the few times he's brought up during the hookup. also, there's a heart next to seungcheol's name in his phone.

the biggest takeaway i think is that they're a lot more vulnerable with each other than they are with their respective counterpoints, able to pick up on each other's wants and ask for what they want, which is something that they hopefully take with them because the lines of communication - literally - are open to them at the end.
