this is a really interesting question! i do almost all of my writing at home in my office or on my couch. i get too easily distracted in coffee shops, libraries, etc. but in terms of feeling inspiration, i actually think best when driving? not to sound like the lincoln lawyer lol but i don’t live very close to most of my family and friends, so i spend a lot of time in the car. almost all of my best brainstorming, believe it or not, happens listening to Spotify on the interstate. i also gain a lot of inspiration from other art or history, songs or books or shows or museum exhibitions. when something inspires me, i want to try to create something that moves someone else similarly. that’s why a number of my works, in the fan works tradition, are re-interpretations of existing pieces of media.

you’re so welcome anon! i missed them too and always planned to come back, i’m just a fairly slow writer and i had two other wips to finish first haha (pretty boy and levee). in starting to work on chapter four, one thing i’m really enjoying (and one thing i thought a lot about in the earlier chapters) is the slow realization by jisung that jaemin isn’t some super-confident all-powerful regent. jisung has some self-confidence issues that i’ll address in the next chapter re: his value as a ruler; jaemin sees it much more clearly from the outside. but it’s also those doubts that make him put jaemin on a confidence pedestal, so to speak? like in chapter one, jisung assumes jaemin is offended at the idea that jisung would tell him who he could or couldn’t sleep with, when really jaemin is hurt that jisung would assume jaemin wouldn’t even try to make him happy. jisung writes off jaemin’s sweaty palms and his appearance in the honeymoon suite because he can’t believe jaemin could be nervous or falter in the face of duty the way jisung believes he does. it’s fun writing jisung both learning his own sense of purpose and confidence while also unlearning the idea that jaemin is somehow untouchable and never has doubts. this next chapter includes them walking among the people and it’s really fun to write the difference in what jisung believes and what jaemin sees. (: this will also probably be the last chapter in the keep (emphasis on probably—my own estimates are often wrong lol) and i am so excited to finally bring chenle back and write the chenji relationship.
