i don't recommend starting your messages to writers (esp ones you like) by telling them their fic wasn't it. it absolutely comes off the "wrong way", tho i'm not sure how that statement could be anything other than negative and hurtful. venor is a love story about prejudice, discrimination, and segregation. it explores how we take people at surface level (like what it sounds like you've done) without opening up to the possibility that there is depth to people if you dig deeper, look for signs, don't get caught up in societal norms. venor follows two young men trying to navigate a world that dictates to them how they should behave and who they should love. the characters develop over time, force themselves out of their comfort zones, and figure out how they want to exist in the world as a "mixed" couple who understand that fear and attraction don't have to be mutually exclusive or bad and see the value in their differences, etc~ i could go on but i won't

anyway. it's okay for you to dislike a fic, but just move on from it. even if you don't intend to sound mean, the impact of your words matters, and writers get frustrated because of messages like this
