Khalid, how do you think I should handle the idea of not being chosen?
I think... first of all, let's validate your feelings. Let's acknowledge that you're hurt and that it's painful, also that it's not your fault. Second of all, Anon, I think being chosen and not being chosen are just two out of so many natures of love, and most of the time, what's in the cards are beyond our hands.
Perhaps all that's left for us is to acknowledge and admit that we're just... simply, not the one. The whys don't matter at all, let alone the what-ifs and should'ves. The thing is, sometimes, no matter how hard we try, we can just never be enough for them while at the same time, somebody else might fit so effortlessly without even needing to try. That's just how life is.
It's tiring sometimes, and most of the time suffocating. And right now, it may seem pretty hard to deal with, but later on, one day, perhaps on a very random day, you'll find yourself laugh at it and wonder what would've happened if you had left earlier. Why you stayed, why it shattered you, why it hurt, and why it once made you feel so undeserving of love.
We'll heal! Not being chosen isn't a big deal, is it? Oh, try keeping this in mind: It's their loss after all, not ours. I'm not gonna reassure you with things like, "you'll be chosen one day," or "someone better will choose you," because I know it won't help, but please remember that you can always choose yourself over and over again. Thank you for sharing, Anon, I hope today wraps you in a very pleasant sleep and greets you warmly in the morning.
