would u ever think about picking up ur abandoned fic again? I really loved the premise n I think u were setting it up to be a toxic relationship. I think an idol-backup dancer secret relationship would go perfectly with it. I think mkrng is so perfect for fics with a lot of angst n toxicity which is why i loved an animal trapped trapped in your hot car. its my fav fic ever, no kidding. pls consider picking it up again but only n only if u want to though 😊
ahhh i will honestly think about it… i’m in the middle of another long fic that’s much more lighthearted so i’ll probably want a change of pace after, and as you guessed it was heading in the toxic relationship direction which i really enjoy writing. thank you for enjoying my work so far, i will definitely keep this in my mind!! <3

I don't understand people who say hrmk is one sided. The fact hr treats mk differently than others is enough proof that what he feels for mk is different than what he does for other members. the fact he does skinship so easily with others even during &aud but pushed mk away is because his touch means different to him than others. it's like if a friend touched me I wouldn't feel anything but if my crush did so, I would be so flustered. the way hr was gulping n taking deep breaths whenever mk touched him during tingle interview, moving away when mk got too close, I bet if it was another member he wouldn't behave that way. anyways those people saying hrmk are one sided aren't even hr biased n only wanna portray him as an emotionless person. I find it very weird that non hr biased lunes are always the one forcing different personalities on him n they r so loud n annoying about it. hr is a complex person. even his members acknowledge that but some lunes keep trying to force him into a box. they don't do this toward other members though.
i don’t really wanna drag this on because the person who said this originally cleared it up and said it wasn’t serious and just a fictional thing they enjoy imagining. but like all rps, there is always gonna be some weird gray space between fiction and reality. i agree with you that makrung is definitely not one sided, they just express emotions and intimacy really differently. i’m also very protective of harua and how he’s perceived, but i think a lot of people don’t really take the time to get to know him deeply and we can’t really control that. we know who harua is and all his complications and i think im a lot happier not dwelling on other people’s opinions that don’t know him well. not saying you don’t have a right to be angry too, but i hope you don’t take it to heart too much. there is something to be said about being careful with our words, especially when that line between rpf and real life is being crossed, so hopefully this is a good learning moment for everyone (me included) to not engage with the negative and just continue to talk about the harua we know and love. i hope this all makes sense and i say this with all love and wanting to continue makrung as a ship and a real friendship <3

exactly! harua has really strong EQ and ability to judge or "reading the room" so the fact that they reenacted the situation of wut happened 4 yrs ago during their campfire confessions in front of a bunch of staff/peers dissecting every.single.word. that they are saying to each other...no wonder he clammed up and appeared flippant and kept it light-hearted lol. also i can see the obv diff with last yr's &day stage where harua outright said: "Yu-kun, I like you," sincerely vs here shows that context matters and that audience was in front of supportive lunés, not a bunch of cameramen and filming staff who are literally 1 meter away staring at them :'D... i think we only really learn a lot more about harua and his closeness with the members when he does long-form weverse lives bcuz that's uninterrupted/without major edits. That's why i'm desperately waiting for another harumaki/shoppingz live because that's when you can REALLY see (esp since the last one was wut almost 2 yrs ago?) how he's grown and matured. also i wish more ppl could see how maki's eyes automatically lands on harua at every opportunity and quietly observes him on camera!! like that heavy stare is SOOOOO obvious to everyone so i feel like harua holds back even more to keep the balance lol
i’ve been discussing this with oomfs also, but i think there’s also an important cultural context, harua very much expresses his emotions in a very japanese way in a sense, and very differently from maki who has a more global perspective. it’s interesting to see and i totally agree that the context matters! i also would love a new makrung live 😭😭 like please we’re starving 😭😭 all the other teamies always hint about how close makrung are off camera though, so i know they’re still just as bonded as ever, but perhaps just a bit more secretive about it now. but like you said, eyes don’t lie, so we can still see how much they care for each other even if it’s not explicitly said. it’s so fun to hear your thoughts, thanks for sharing!

I think harua is a perfect example of having a natural stoicism/external blank face to mask his true feelings. You can tell he chooses his words and controls his emotions on his face so well to avoid revealing what he truly feels until he's ready (case in point: when he revealed on that random jpn tv show that he purposely did not show any discomfort on his face when he was having a tough time asa trainee in kr because he knew it worried his mom). What makes me sus that he DOES treat/see maki differently from others can be seen during their Idol DKDK club ep last yr when his heart raced SO hard whenever maki was the focus lol. also, the way they speak so tenderly with each other during their tingle ep is where you can truly see how close they are.
okay you’re cooking… i agree, harua doesn’t easily express his emotions so im sure having to express it to a room full of people is very daunting (like honestly, i think i would be the same way in that situation). also YES the dkdk situation… i have written about this before bc it’s so telling… i think that whole thing was probably terrifying for harua because you can put a mask on your face but you truly can’t do anything to control your heartbeat… and that totally gives you away. i like to think i understand harua to some degree, but i honestly don’t think we will ever truly get the full cavern of his thoughts because that’s how he prefers it. i have a strong feeling he’s more open about his feelings with the members, but that’s not something we’re privy to fully and only get glimpses of and i think we should just accept that to an extent

i felt rlly bad for maki during the letter reading since i think he genuinely does wish he could have these emotional moments that everyone else got but maki’s a very blunt person so i think if anything harua does ever actually upset him he would just say it cause that’s the type of guy he is so i don’t think anyone needs to worry THAT much about it

i think people are kind of being harsh when it comes to harua and how he treats Maki, saying that he doesn’t “give a fuck” when at the end of the day they’re best friends and insanely close seems just cruel and sad. Harua loves him a lot as much as the other members, let’s appreciate how he expresses it

I love Harumaki, but sometimes it really does feel one-sided. Like, if you pay attention to the way Harua treats the other members (especially Nico, Juju, and Yuma), it’s completely different from the way he treats Maki
i agree, but i don't think that's a bad thing necessarily...people will have different dynamics with different people, and hr is no different, i think if you compare his relationships with all the teamies, all of them are distinct from each other with some overlapping similarities. that being said (maybe i'm just a delusional makrunger) but i feel like the fact that harua DOES treat maki so differently is what makes them stand out to me. harua is very careful with maki's emotions, and very aware of the fact that maki is the only member younger than him. this is all speculation, but i really don't think it's one sided, just a very purposeful fragility that harua doesn't want to ruin. like he cares about maki so much that he doesn't want to get too close and potentially ruin something. my thesis has always been that harua treats maki that way because he's both hyperaware of maki's feelings for him and also simultaneously not really ready to confront those feeling inside of him...harua is someone whose biggest fear is to be misunderstood and then we have maki that wants nothing more than to understand harua...but from harua's perspective that's scary asf because i don't think he realizes how deeply intimate being fundamentally understood is. anyways, that's my coke rant and personal opinion, but i also realize makrung is not for everyone and that's Okay
