AU where Sentinels and Guides are known but rare and have to get by on their own. Jeongguk awakened as a Sentinel two years ago when he got in a car crash; his powers saved him, but he now feels everything too much (the light is too bright, the noises are too loud, etc.) and is always in and out of the zone. He no longer has a job and lives locked in a dark and stuffy apartment. His friend Taehyung visits him at least once a week to use his Guide powers to calm Jeongguk down, but the effect never lasts long and Jeongguk is always on edge.
The day after Taehyung leaves for a brief vacation with his boyfriend Yoongi, Jeongguk's doorbell rings. Feeling extremely irritated and disturbed, he opens the door to find his new neighbour Seokjin who came to introduce himself with a plate of sirutteok. Hurriedly picking up the plate to end the conversation and return to his dark den, Jeongguk brushes Seokjin's hand and realises three things:
1) Seokjin is a Guide;
2) all the fury and the too many feelings that were afflicting Jeongguk calmed down in an instant as soon as they came into contact;
3) Seokjin is his intended/fated Guide.
