hi! writer here - just wondering how strict the 1k word limit is?
Hi writer! You are welcome to go over the 1k word requirement so long as you are able to meet the one month deadline for the fic. The "flash" in "Flash Fic Drive" refers both to the speedy turnaround of the fics as well as the length minimum! :)

I couldn't find exactly how to donate... I saw something about uploading a screenshot?
Forms are now live! After choosing which of our wonderful contributing writers you'd like to request a prompt from and checking to see if their form is still open, you can review our donator guidelines. After reviewing our donator guidelines, you can visit this linktree to view the various community and mutual aid groups to donate to. Pick one and make a minimum donation of 10 USD. Take a screenshot of your donation, making sure the money amount is visible in the screenshot. Then, submit your prompt and proof of donation to the author form of your choice!

Hi! How will writers know when they have a prompter?
We will contact writers within 24 hours of receiving a prompt submission to their form. We might be a little delayed this first round as we have already (!) received many prompt submissions.
In the meantime, writers can also monitor their own forms to see when they close which means all available slots have been claimed.

Will the contributor's request forms be set to automatically close after they receive the amount of submissions the contributor is open for, or will it be visible to potential donators another way if there are slots left?
Forms are set to close automatically, but you'll be able to view the whole contributor list in an archive, with an option to see if writers are accepting prompts or not. However, please keep in mind that this archive is manually updated and so it may not be exactly up to date! We will try to update it at least once a day.

can I donate to an org BEFORE 8pm PST? I want to have my donation ready before claiming opens! also is it possible to claim multiple fics from diff authors or from the same author? like if an author has 3 slots, can I donate $30 (or more!!) to get a 3k fic?
You can donate before 8pm PST! However, please keep in mind that you are not guaranteed to claim a slot from an author and we are unable to refund donations.
Please only claim one slot from a contributor! You may donate a minimum of 10 USD, but if you donate 30 USD, you are still only able to claim one slot. Writers have only signed up to do 1k-word fics- if they go over, that is their choice. If you would like to claim multiple slots, you must submit a new donation with each form. This is for administrative reasons and to prevent donor fraud, as it is difficult for us to keep track of single, large donations split across many forms.

will you collect donator's ao3 accounts so that writers can "gift" the fics to them on ao3?
We are only asking that writers publish their works to the ao3 collection, although donators are welcome to share their ao3 usernames on the submission form in case writers would like to gift them on ao3.

writer here - with the new 1 month deadline for finished works, is that taking into account any time it might take to work with the prompter to finalize the prompt before we start writing? for example if they ask for something on our "nos" list and we need to work with them to adjust the prompt?
Yes, the clock doesn't start until the writer has confirmed that they are comfortable with the prompt. So, if you receive your prompt on Feb 1 but need to clarify some things with your prompter and aren't able to get to a settled prompt until Feb 14, you will have until March 14 to complete and publish the fic.
