Tips on writing? Like literally writing, sometimes mine feels so strict and not interesting enough like I can't come up with good narration but yours is so freaking amazing and evolving and brilliant and wow I just feel like you would have a lot to talk about your writing process
hiiii you would be right i would have a lot to say lol!!!! i can literally talk about this sort of thing all day i love it soso much
one thing that helps me flesh out my writing (ie. making it more interesting) funny enough is tapping into the five senses and looking at every idea i have for a scene/character/storyline as a rabbit burrow (weird comparison ik i'll elaborate in a second). in terms of the five senses i try to really tap into what five senses (touch, taste, smell, vision, hearing) i'd be experience if i were in character in a scene i'm writing, but also making sure i'm awake of what sort of thoughts and feelings my character would be having when interacting with its environment. for instance, if i find myself at a party and i'm in a bad mood, what kind of thoughts would i be having? what would be setting me off specifically? is the music too loud or did my friends ditch me or am i still hung up on a fight i had with my boyfriend prior to coming to the party? i try to pinpoint where all of those things settle into my body (ie. tense posture, headache, figeting limbs) when it comes to bringing characters to life. it will drive you to make your environment more interesting if you make your characters have a reaction to it rather than always Interacting with it, if that makes sense... not always the case ofc but something i think about.
i used to have a rly bad on/off writers block up until 2024 ish and it honestly helps to just write a little in your notes app or in a journal. and i dont mean Writing writing a story either; obviously you have to be in a particular headspace to even write a sentence. i def cant do that sort of thing. it can be prompts, words you like that you'd one day like to thread into a future story, or keeping tabs on art, music, and other stray thoughts that might inspire you in the future that you can look back on.
my main thing i find myself doing when outlining and coming up with fic ideas is what i refer to as my rabbit burrow method that i made up in my autistic mind's eye. when i have an idea for a fic but i'm kind of lost on how to go about it, i start with one idea i know i'd like to write and just stretching it out as faaarrrr as i can even if i dont end up using it. i think of it like being inside of a bunny burrow, and the main path goes and branches out into these 5-10 other pathways and then THOSE pathways have 5 more pathways within them. i try to go through all of them as extensively as i can throughout my process. for example, if i go down one path (main idea for a scene) and go down all the little baby burrows existing within it (other small ideas that pop out while outlining/writing the scene), i could decide i end up not liking the burrow at all (main idea i started with) but turns out, i ended up rly liking a tiny burrow within there (random small idea i attach to) that i decide to flesh out instead. i just repeat that sort of process until i have a full scene, and then multiple scenes, and then woah my first draft is done!
sorry if none of that made sense i'm more than happy to elaborate more on anything esp if this was all confusing LOL. again this is how it makes sense in my head so this might sound crazy to others. #appleminho method of madness
