what are your favorites tope in fanfiction and the most hated ones, boring?
I will gladly share mine so we can talk about it! Aside from my favorite package, a pill of the best tropes - slow burn, angst, hurt comfort, i think people really sleeping on catholic guilt 😔 and maybe I read too little, but I haven't seen many kpop fics with this?? generally there are few of them, but i would be glad to see it anyway... and then also i really like internalized homophobia - maybe it's my feeling nostalgic for the times of 2015, where the main characters were afraid to be homo, but who knows🙏🏼 On the other hand i am a big fan of the most cliché tropes ever, i think everyone sometimes need to read some 'there was only one bed' it's kinda healing, sometimes the simplest solutions are the best🩷 what do you think Ha
I don't know if anyone here wants to read about tropes I hate the most, I don't want to spring some negativity here, but we should all put away those unsuccessful enemies to lovers where they are enemies for like one chapter and there we go!! and those exes to lovers, because your ex is Ex for a reason! don't look back! And, this may be controversial, I kinda perceive smuts as boring😅 I mean, I really like yours, because they are like a 'whole'(?). You write a few fragments, mostly descriptions and they are doing great. I am just not a big fan those very detailed, where and how many fingers you put in😅

hmmm I wouldn't necessarily say I hate any tropes but I guess there are definitely some I don't find interesting. in general I feel like it comes down to the execution more than anything! I'll give my thoughts on yours first though~
I mean OBVIOUSLY angst & hurt/comfort is like... gold. I guess if we're talking favourites that's probably mine even though it's a very broad umbrella sdfjhs and slow burn for me for sure depends on the execution!! catholic guilt... maybe I'm one of the people sleeping on it 😭😭 but I grew up completely nonreligious, so... that would be why 😅 internalised homophobia is another one that verrrry much depends on how it's done, maybe it's because imo it's a little overdone and rarely with realistic psychological nuance... maybe I actually prefer when things are complicated LMAOO
enemies to lovers... atp it's probably obvious what I'm going to say but..... it depends on how it's done sjdfhs I think it's a more ambitious development arc than it's given credit for and therefore difficult to execute in a way that feels genuine. I think exes to lovers depends as well! your ex is your ex for a reason, but that reason could be wrong place wrong time, a breakup as a form of protection, a breakup as a form of self-destruction, external forces pulling them apart... the list goes on and tbh I kinda like the sound of some of those things LMAO. and I'm sure you're SO tired of me saying "it depends" atp but it's the same with smut 😭 if getting freaky is the sole point then yeah that doesn't hold too much interest for me but if there's feelings and genuine connection then hell yeah! for me, if I don't feel like describing a certain detail I just won't, but if I feel it's necessary or serves a certain purpose I will... that's MY rationale while writing smut so I'm kinda glad it works out? (laughing a bit at "where and how many fingers you put in" sdjfh)
I feel like my own favourite tropes are probably fairly obvious from my fics lol... angst & hurt/comfort... found family... various forms of trauma and psychological distress... I love illness/injury as a trope as well, like anything from fluffy sickfics to heart-rending chronic illness gets a Hell Yeah from me! also I know we all love romance, but I adore portrayals of strong platonic relationships, whether in the context of found family or otherwise. for tropes I DON'T like so much... 🤔 trying so hard not to say "it depends" again BUT IT DOES, IT DEPENDS 😭 I suppose it's less about not liking them and more about them not being inherently interesting to me, but honestly like... I know you said you do like some cliche tropes, but a lot of those don't do much for me sdjfhs fake dating is one that comes to mind, it's just... idk, I don't get it 😭 I'm aroace so I feel like that has a lot to do with a lot of typical romance tropes (and smut tropes lol) not really catching my interest.
