I love both a lot. I steer towards writing AUs myself, since minsung are a very fun couple to put in alternate situations in, but minsungs canon story is tender and delicate and full of potential.. its just that sometimes i dont feel like constraining myself to their jobs as idols! Its time consuming and restricting, since portraying it realistically means keeping minsung in the closet, and means that they dont have much time for personal adventures etc. I guess i love writing non-famous but normal AUs most.. just best friends minsung, being best friends but not being idols, often still having some kind of job in music or dance or at least planning to go into the directions.. its fun to rewrite their meetcute or the start of their dynamic in general and build them towards where they are now.
A ton of my brainworms are actually fantasy/magical AUs kjsdhgjkhag. I love royalty and magic so much and i love making minho powerful so therefor you have me coming up with many magic AUs with so much beautiful non-con.. i hope some of them get finished one day..

soo very well said kitty i fully understand. i read all types of incest but i prefer it when the focus is sexual, OR when its so unrealistic or twisted that in the parent/child relationship the parent makes sure that they have a future with their child no matter what, probably isolating them together somewhere where they "can be happy". But yes i also get really deeply sad and uneasy when the focus is romantic, in any type if incestuous relationship, because there will always be issues in their relationship and their pursuit of a happy future together, which is why its not my preference when i just want to read a sexy fun fic.. im a romantic and a softie.. this is why when its about incest for minsung i only dabble in the smut of it, and will never write anything deeper involving exploration of their dynamic and feelings!! i write all my incest minsung as if irl jisung and minho are lying in bed together and jisung is sharing his very elaborate incest fantasy <3 this is why it can get silly and unrealistic but still be fun. I think i did pretty well with my one incest minsung fic because it zooms in one of minsungs days and doesnt really build up their relationship outside of that nor does it look far in the future where potential feelings could be had and be hurt- it stays focused on the smut and silliness of it. theres some hints of emotional investment on minhos side of course, but blink and you miss em.
Its easier to make siblings change names and act like theyre not siblings so they can have a happy future together, and maybe thats why you dont feel the same apprehension for those? with a parent/child relationship the whole agegap is another tough thing to deal with so i guess it just makes everything more complicated. Plus its a thousand times more toxic and dysfunctional and immoral if the child is groomed-- those types of fics need a very dark or unrealistic twist to them so that it feels fun for me to enjoy them.. at least siblings are a less illegal age Lmao. My favourite parent/sibling brainworms are just unrealistic daddy kink fantasies where i dont even like to think about giving minho any kind of consequences or troubles for his actions! i just want to enjoy a fantasy of being loved by a parent in parental and sexual and romantic ways, rather thank be moral or realistic. smut fic are supposed to be fun, and considering all the hardships incestuous dynamics have is Not fun for the type of fic experience i want to create ! but im sure other authors or readers enjoy doing the things that we dont.
