Do you have a secret to being consistent? Because I’m really amazed at how consistent you are with your character!
That's a really really generous compliment... thank you so much! ❤︎
My secret... Maybe I'll put it like this: I have character anchors. It could be colors, foods, scents, little details—hobbies, music, or even an era. For Cindy, it’s things like gingham patterns, cherries, Coke, cats, the beach, her Hollywood dream, dirty blonde hair… very retro Americana. Those are an ensemble of details that I’ve pulled from music, films, books, and personal favorites. Then in every piece I write, I weave in at least one of those anchors—so no matter the scene, it always feels unmistakably Cindy.
And now that you've get the aesthetic, there are the psychological anchors too. For Cindy, it’s her hellcat persona—loud, crass, a little rude when she wants to be. She's a sarcastic opportunist who knows how to get what she wants (even if she had to suck a dick for it). But underneath that, there’s a core fear of being replaced by someone younger and prettier. Those principles drive her reactions and decisions. And that's—I guess—how she doesn’t just look like Cindy, but consistently behaves and grow like Cindy too.
