I love the Hunchback movie! Is the book similar?

I think the Disney movie is more light and don't focus a lot on Notre-Dame. Victor Hugo spends a lot of time to describe the Church, Paris and stuff. I also think the movie doesn't have all the characters the book have, including my favorite one, Pierre Gringoire!
