If one teeth is a tooth, and one geese is a goose, then doesn't that mean one sheep should be a shoop?

After extensive research on the subject, the letters "ee" in succession don't even look like letters anymore and I'm no closer to a satisfactory answer. But I suspect this has been pushed by moose who want the plural of moose to be moose in order to hide their numbers.
