Why did you decide on being a half dragon?
You mean I wasn't always half dragon? 🤔
But in all seriousness: I was building on top of the current incarnation of this character, which started as a Final Fantasy XIV Lalafell, and since this going to be my form of self-expression on stream, I needed an idea to make that character original and truly mine. At first it started with just adjusting the outfit, but with many of my fellow VTubers incorporating animal traits into their characters I felt like that wasn't nearly enough. To be quite honest I don't exactly remember how I settled on taking a dragon archetype. I think I was trying to figure out a reason why they had pointed ears without settling on races such as "elf" or "fairy", but also I think the series where I took my name from, "Dragon Quest", had a lot to do with it as well. Now that I really think about it, it seems like dragons always sort of had this constant background presence in my life as well, so maybe this was the chance to really bring that out more.
As for the "half" part? There's this funny trend in my characters where one character will be half of something, and then the next incarnation will be all of that same something. So I guess that means my next incarnation is going to be -all- dragon. Now doesn't that sound fun?
Do you have a piece of physical media that you especially prize or which is valuable to you? like a game that you actually own and are proud of that?
This is an interesting question because I try my best to not latch onto most material things, which physical games and media would fall into that category. I do this for both space and personal reasons.
However I do own a physical copy of Dragon Quest III for the Famicom that was given to me as a gift... which is amusing because I don't actually have a Famicom! So maybe I am a little proud of that. What I'm not so proud of is the box full of PS2 games that has been sitting my closet for a literal decade.
On the other hand... There are still shrink-wrapped copies of both Raidou games in there. Both pre-reprint.
What is your favorite dinosaur?
Somehow I had a feeling this would be the first question I'd be asked, but it's also kind of appropriate that I would get to answer something about my non-fire breathing cousins!
It's kind of funny because I like dragons and all sorts of scaly things, but I'm not actually into dinosaurs all that much. So you would think this would be a difficult question for me to answer but it turns out I actually didn't have to think about it for very long, and the answer came quite naturally.
It's the Plesiosaurus! I find that aquatic creatures often have very elegant shapes and the plesiosaurus is no exception. Other than that I don't really know much about them but I like to imagine them as being very graceful. Plus they've got a great smile!
Here's a fun little tidbit: In Adventure Island II you can gain a companion that is a Elasmosaurus, which also belongs to the Plesiosaur family and is no less friend-shaped. I didn't notice before while I was thinking but maybe this is the real reason why I ended up with this answer.
