I think the hardest part is figuring out the entire plot. Not necessarily coming up with the plot itself, but making sure everything makes sense and connects well. I also struggle with characterization because I sometimes stray from the characters’ canon personalities. I try my best to avoid making them too out of character, although I know it’s sometimes unavoidable, especially when the plot requires certain things from them.

For example, in BBEMT and The Succession, Suowei’s characterization was a bit more complex because of the plot, and the same goes for some of the other characters. Sometimes, I have to find a way to balance their canon personalities with the direction I want the story to take without making them feel like completely different people 😭😭😭

Another problem is that I rarely stick to my original outline HAHAHAHA. I’ll make a whole plan for the story, only to end up going in a completely different direction once I start writing. Sometimes, I wonder why I even bother making outlines in the first place 🤣🤣

There are also times when I already have the plot outline figured out, but I have absolutely no idea how to start writing the actual chapter. I know what needs to happen, but putting it into words is a different story. So, I usually write several drafts and compare them to see which version works best for me.

Writing angst scenes is also pretty hard for me because I mostly write fluff. I’m more comfortable writing sweet, heartwarming moments, so whenever I try to write something angsty, I sometimes find myself wondering if I’ve done enough. Is the emotional impact there? Does the scene hurt enough? Did I convey what I wanted the readers to feel? I tend to second-guess myself a lot when it comes to those scenes HAHAHA😭

As for the easiest part, it’s definitely writing action scenes! I really love writing them HAHAHA🤣🤣 I don’t know why, but there’s something so enjoyable about writing the movements and the way everything unfolds during a fight or an intense moment. I can struggle for hours trying to figure out how to start a chapter, but once I get to an action scene, I suddenly have so much fun writing it hihiihi
