I used to listen to a bunch of podcasts but over time haven't really been doing much of them anymore as my favorite ones kinda just peter out. I was a big listener of The Giant Bombcast each week for many, many years until the Covid era when to be perfectly honest Giant Bomb started greatly dropping off in quality to me combined with the reality that I'm just priced out of current video games. I used to listen for Jeff Gerstmann's perspective on the industry and while I listen to his current show on some rare occasions (and especially when some big industry thing happens, because he's someone who has seen literally everything and those are always the people whose opinions most matter to me on stuff like this) I tend to not find an appeal in listening to someone talk to themselves for multiple hours unless it's a Q&A kind of deal. When it's a podcast you desperately need someone to bounce off of. Nextlander I'll listen to on rare occasions because I love Vinny/Brad/Alex dearly but again, I haven't been this cold on modern video games in an extremely long time. Last time was probably the late 00s college-era CC.

I also occasionally listen to this really dorkily charming podcast where two of the Brady kids, Peter (Christopher Knight) and Greg (Barry Williams), do a book report-style recap of a random episode of The Brady Bunch they chose beforehand, and give their insight on how the episode was made as well as anecdotes about the cast or general production stuff. It's not exactly inside baseball stuff but you can tell they're having a blast getting together and hanging out with each other again so I can't not be charmed by that. I was listening to this super cool old Lucille Ball radio show that was getting preserved and archived that was episodes of her old 1950s CBS Radio show but then after they started running out of episodes they started doing this secondhand embarrassing "what if Lucy talked to the stars of today?" AI-generated junk fake podcasts of Lucille Ball interviewing someone like, say, Amy Poehler, and I immediately dropped that shit like a bad habit.

Otherwise most of my podcast listening is clip-related, whether it's something related to wrestling that a type of oldhead like a Dave Meltzer or Bryan Alvarez is commenting on or "hey Jeff Gerstmann talked about a crazy n64 story". I feel bad but I just don't have the time anymore for long podcasts. I think what doesn't help is I'm currently not working. When I was working and had a commute it was much easier to commit to have stuff like podcasts to listen to on my way to work or on lunch breaks (or on rare occasions while I'm working). However, I love old radio broadcasts. Dennis Hart runs an amazing Monitor Beacon website dedicated to the old NBC radio program Monitor that has tons of old full episodes and those are great to have on as time capsules.
