Question! When it comes to chaptered fics do all the chapters have to be submitted by the deadline or can it be the first chapter at the deadline and we can still update after the reveals?
Hi!
We would prefer if all works were fully completed when submitted, but if you absolutely can't, please reach out to us via twt dm's or email and discuss it with us privately!
We were thinking of potentially opening up off-season submissions, so this could potentially work for unfinished, chaptered fics too
Hi! Is there a deadline for the sign up?
Hi!
We have no strict deadline due to the low-pressure nature of the fest, we would just ask that people claim with enough time to finish their work.
We are happy for anyone to dm us if they will struggle to reach the deadline!
Hi hi! Are the check-ins mandatory or optional?
Hi!
Since we wanted this to be a low-pressure fest, the check-ins are not strictly mandatory.
However, when we do send the check-in emails, we would prefer to be kept up to date with any issues or your progress. But if you do miss it, or don’t respond, we won’t be removing anyone from the fest.
The only mandatory thing is the submission deadline, but we will be sending out more info in the future regarding that. We trust that anyone having issues with reaching the deadline date will either contact us via email or twitter, and we will try our best to accommodate you, within reason.
I hope this answers your question, and if not, feel free to ask any further questions
Hi! Would it be okay to use other keywords associated with the flower? Or should we only use the ones in the card?
Hi!
A lot of research went into finding the right words for each flower, while also trying to make them unique (since many flowers have very similar meanings). Because of this, we would rather the 3 keywords be kept as the main theme of the story, but we are happy if you deep-dive into your flower and take inspiration from it.
For example, mod did a lot of research into folklore and mythology and the original meanings of flowers across multiple cultures, so we are happy if you want to do things like that!
The key point is to keep the main theme of your story as close as possible to the flower and words you chose or were given!
That said, if you have chosen a random flower and are unhappy with it, we are happy for you to email or DM us to request a change. We ultimately want this to be a low-pressure fest where people can have fun, so we wouldn’t want anyone to feel stuck with what they were given.
I hope this helps!
I LOVE the concept of the fest, and the drawing are gorgeous (hats off to the artist)! If I understand correctly, several authors can choose the same flower?
Hi!
Yes, the same flower can be chosen by more than one person, otherwise that would limit participation numbers.
We have actually had a really good balance so far, and each flower has been chosen at least once!
is it okay to use the flower i get for a wip i'm currently working on (not posted anywhere)? or will i have to use the flower on an entirely new one?
Hi!
There’s no reason why you can’t use a current unposted wip, as long as the story fits the theme of your chosen flower.
how will sign ups work? just pick a flower card and fill up a form? or something else
Hi!
We will have a sign-up form with links to view both the light and dark flower cards. The link for this will be posted at the start of the fest.
You will have the option to pick the flower you would like, or be assigned a random flower from either the light or dark options.
i know you guys said just to be careful/sensitive when handling dark topics, but to clarify, are all dd:dne topics ( non-con etc ) allowed? or are there any that are strictly forbidden ( minus underage since i know you explicitly said no to that )
Hi!
DD:DNE tropes are allowed. This is why we created the dark flowers as well, for people who might want to explore darker themes and topics.
As long as people stick to the guidelines and tag their work properly, they can write what they want!
Besides age, is there any other requirement to be a writer in the fest?
Hi! The guidelines have been posted now, and can be viewed at https://x.com/skzbloomfest/status/1979165498555121835. These cover the general rules. To reiterate, it is a 5kz only event. If you have more specific questions about the rules, feel free to ask.
