Like many 'sonas ever created, the Beard started out as a D&D character. He was a Dwarf who had his hair and beard grow so unruly it covered everything but his eyes, arms and legs. The last form of D&D beard was as a Warlock who made a pact with a Fathomless being (by accident) since he wished for everyone to love him and the being responded by fracturing Warlock Beard so that a part of him was in every multiverse at any given time and everyone loved him. I kind of adapted that into the streaming and later internet sona I rock now a days.

B O N U S: The rental store slant didn't really come to fruition until around late ish 2024 when I decided it would be a fun little lore bit if the Beard ran a rental store in the Cryptid World he lives in.
