He would rather self-destruct and stay in that comfort than actually live, because living is scary. New things are scary. Maybe that’s why he was kind of distant with Jungkook at first, because Jungkook with his tattoos and bike was something new, something outside of Taehyung’s routine, and that was terrifying to him.
And man, I really do relate to Taehyung like this.

I think with Jungkook, yes, he was new but he also unfurled emotions in Taehyung that he previously did not have time or energy for. He’s been on survival mode. He also just /wanted/ jungkook and that feeling unnerved him, annoyed him (because he shouldn’t want/need anyone but himself), and also scared him (change again haha). So, yes, he did want distance because he was like “I can’t entertain these feelings because this guy is going to uproot my entire life.” Jungkook does make taehyung /feel/ more alive, like an actual person with strong emotions, which is something taehyung desperately wants. There’s like two warring emotions inside him: the comfort of his current complacency in suffering, and desire to break free from said suffering.

It means a lot that you can relate to Taehyung and hopefully find comfort in that 🥺!!
